Why choose a celebrant?

With an Independent Celebrant you will have a ceremony unique and personal to you reflecting your wishes and belief systems. You can hold your wedding in almost any location ( subject to owner’s permission) and with almost any content you wish. It can be traditional or modern, with religion or without, or if you are mixed faith you can incorporate some elements from both cultures. Your celebrant will take the time to get to know you, be able to advise on the many enhancements available and be there to support you all the way to ensure your ceremony is as perfect as it can be.

Currently the law in England and Wales requires the legal paperwork for marriage to be completed by a Local Authority Registrar or designated clergy. Couples often arrange to have the legal formalities completed in a short civil ceremony in a Register Office a few days before their celebrant led wedding celebration. This can be very simple and inexpensive involving only the couple and two witnesses and is often referred to as a ‘jeans and T-shirt wedding’. No personal vows or rings need to be exchanged. There is no need for the guests at your celebrant led ceremony to know it does not include the legal documentation. After all it is your commitment to each other expressed in your own unique way that creates your Moment in Time. 

There are no legal requirements for renewal of vows or naming ceremonies.

I am a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC), a large fellowship of like-minded celebrants all trained to a similar high standard.   In the unlikely event that I was unable to officiate on the day a fellow member would be able to stand in for me. 

  Yes, through the AOIC I have £5m public liability insurance and £1m professional indemnity insurance.

Any personal information I collect from you will only be used by me and will only be used to plan and conduct your ceremony. 

Any personal information I collect from you will not be shared with anyone else without your consent (for example, it may be necessary to share with someone involved in your ceremony or its arrangement but this would not be done without first obtaining your permission).

Your information will be securely stored on a password-protected computer.
